In This War Of Mine you do not play as an elite soldier but rather a group of civilians trying to survive in a besieged city; struggling with lack of food, Medicine and constant danger from snipers and hostile scavengers. The game provides an experience of war seen from an entirely new angle.

To fix someone who is broken, you will need to have another character in the house come over and talk to them. This will occupy both characters for several hours and hopefully the next day they will have progressed to a point where you can control them.

Happiness can be increased with some solid night sleep, feeding them their addiction (coffee/smoke), some booze (always keep some moonshine around, better to trade off pure alcohol as it is worth more than drinking unless that is all you have), music from guitar/radio and helping neighbors or NPCs.
