What is Electronic Code of Federal Regulations?
The Electronic Code of Federal Regulations (e-CFR) is a currently updated version of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). The e-CFR is an editorial compilation of CFR material and Federal Register amendments, not an official legal edition of the CFR. The OFR updates the material in the e-CFR on a daily basis.
How is the Federal Register organized?
Each issue of the Federal Register is organized into four categories: Presidential Documents, including Executive orders and proclamations. Rules and Regulations, including policy statements and interpretations of rules. Proposed Rules, including petitions for rulemaking and other advance proposals.

What does excepted Intrastate mean?
Excepted Intrastate (EA), you operate or expect to operate in a city, county state or federal vehicle ONLY and are exempt from the FMCSA driver qualification requirements. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations require self-certification.
Do intrastate carriers need operating authority?

Do intrastate carriers need IFTA?
Who Must Register for IFTA? Motor carriers who operate an IFTA-qualified motor vehicle in commerce must participate in IFTA. Used in combination with a total gross vehicle weight over 26,000 pounds. I am only registered as Intrastate.
What states require IFTA?
The IFTA requirement is in effect for all lower 48 US states (which excludes Hawaii, Alaska, and the District of Columbia) and the following 10 Canadian provinces: Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Saskatchewan.
How is IFTA calculated?
Your IFTA fuel tax is calculated based on how many gallons of fuel you burnin each state. You’ll need to calculate your fuel mileage over the entire quarter. You’ll need to calculate your total gallons burned in each state using the results from Steps 2 & 3. You’ll need to calculate your tax owed in each state.
What states are non IFTA jurisdictions?
Non-IFTA jurisdictions are the following: Alaska, Hawaii, District of Columbia (US); Yukon Territory, Northwest Territory, Nunavut (Canadian territories); and all of Mexico. All miles driven in these locations are considered to be Non-IFTA miles and should be reported as ‘Non-IFTA’ miles in the IFTA report.
