The DofE endeavours to keep your costs down so the current Welcome Pack, which includes the participation fee, is £23.00 for the Bronze Award, £23.00 for Silver and £30.00 for Gold.

You can pay by cash, cheque, invoice or card. For DofE Modular Training Framework (MTF) Regional run courses, you can only pay online. To do this you must either already have an eDofE account or once you have been approved for a training course, your eDofE Training login details will be sent to you via email.
How many miles do you walk for silver D of E?
How far do you have to walk for silver DofE? SILVER – Three day / two night expedition with at least seven hours planned activity each day in normal rural or open country or on appropriate water. If the expedition is on foot, an average Team might achieve a distance of between 48 – 59 km/ 30 – 37 miles.
Can you fail DofE?
You cannot fail a DofE Expedition. However at the end of a practice expedition we occasionally have to recommend that some groups undertake further training and practice to ensure that they are fully prepared to safely undertake an unaccompanied qualifying expedition.
How long do you have to walk for DofE?
One of these conditions says that on each day of expedition, you must do the minimum hours of planned activity for your DofE level. At Bronze that is 6 hours, for Silver it’s 7 hours and for Gold it’s 8 hours. All groups move at different speeds so the amount of distance covered does vary.

It is not possible to fail a DofE award, but you can fail expeditions or have evidence rejected. This means that in some instances individuals will have to redo an expedition, or even restart entire sections.

- Shops: Roles include customer service, sorting donations and merchandising.
- Fundraising: Fundraise for the charity.
- Reading Leaders volunteers: Each volunteer works with one or two students, helping them to read, once or twice per week (depending on their school).
- Retail volunteer: Help in a charity shop.
Can you go straight to gold DofE?
Once you are 16 you can do your Gold DofE programme. If you’ve jumped straight into your Gold DofE programme you’ll need to do a further six months either Volunteering or in whichever one of your Physical or Skills activities you spent more time on.
Can you skip silver DofE and go straight to gold?
For Gold, you’ll need to do your programme for at least 12 months if you’ve achieved your Silver Award, or 18 months if you’ve started at Gold level without doing your Silver – even if you’ve done Bronze.
Can I do D of E on my own?
You’ll be able to progress through your DofE activities in your own time with dedicated support from a DofE Leader via email and telephone. If you haven’t got a local DofE group nearby or your local DofE centre doesn’t offer Gold level, you can do your Gold DofE through DofE Direct.
Can you complete Duke of Edinburgh on your own?

What evidence is needed for DofE?
You need to upload evidence that you have completed each of your Physical, Skill and Volunteering Sections (school will do this for the Expedition) to eDofE and SUBMIT each of your Sections as complete. You should have followed two of these Sections for at least 3 months and the other for 6 months.

DofE is about helping you along the path to a productive and prosperous future. As many of our participants say, it’s life-changing. Achieving an Award will give you skills, confidence and an edge over others when you apply for college, university or a job.
Do employers care about DofE?
Employers don’t care if someone has done the DofE: they care if someone has a skill that is transferrable to the job in hand, and if that skill was something a person learned on expedition etc then you have indeed answered your own question.
Is Duke of Edinburgh a qualification?

Do universities care about DofE?
So, yes, universities do like to see a Duke of Edinburgh Award on your UCAS form, but only insofar as it tells them something about you. They don’t care about it per se.

Do GCSE have UCAS points?
