In the end, Christopher — the Prawn Wikus fights alongside throughout the film — ultimately escapes the planet. Thanks to Wikus’ sacrifice and assistance, Christopher is able to get his damaged command module working and fly himself and his son up to the recently activated mothership.
Does Wikus die in District 9?

What office does Wikus work for?

It’s a very good film. Excellent for not just its political commentary, story telling, character development, and all the other things that others have pointed out.
How did they make the aliens in District 9?
The aliens in District 9 were designed by Peter Jackson’s company Weta. If the producers had gone with this design, the aliens would’ve been played by actors in suits. When the aliens were redesigned to look like crustaceans – or “prawns,” as they’re called in the movie – they were created using CGI effects.
